BioAscent proud to support COVID-19 response

Published: 03 April 2020

BioAscent is privileged to partner with the University of Glasgow, which is set to host a major COVID-19 testing facility to support the UK and Scottish Governments and NHS efforts against the coronavirus.

The facility is part of a series of measures to increase testing in response to the spread of COVID-19 across the UK. BioAscent’s unique expertise is crucial to the collaboration, which also includes the Scottish Government and the University of Dundee’s Drug Discovery Unit.

The new testing centre will provide capacity for substantially more COVID-19 tests per day and will be located at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Campus. Testing is due to begin in mid-April.

The Glasgow centre is one of several new hub laboratories, coordinated by the Medicines Discovery Catapult, to be opened to increase COVID-19 testing during the crisis.

Paul Smith, CEO at BioAscent said: “The need to increase testing capabilities in response to the pandemic is key to helping save lives and easing the burden on the NHS. I am delighted that BioAscent is able to support the University of Glasgow’s testing facility and that we can share our expertise to support this vital project.”
